Seniors 2009 Blog

Today started at 6:00 central time with a

glorious 6 hour ride to Grayson, GA. Along the way there was sleeping, sleeping, and more sleeping. Our last performance at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church was filled with lots of mess ups and laughs, but was in essence a successful final performance.

After various pictures outside, we circled up for our final Bible study. The word of the day was COURAGE. This word touched the seniors because they are embarking on a new journey where courage is a necessity.

All the seniors want to express our love and admiration for Mrs. Eckart and Mr. E for sticking with us since sixth grade. Through the good times and bad, they have always been there to help us, encourage us, and love us. They are like second parents to all of us (except Jenny who is actually their child). We will never forget the impact they have made on our lives, and will always keep them in our hearts! We love ya'll!!!!!

The night ended with tears of joy and reminiscing of choir tours past. Our senior class is a cohesive unit, great friends, and most importantly a family. We will miss each other terribly, but this isn't a goodbye...just a see ya later!

Waiting on the Lord!

Katie's Blog

hey y'all. Today we got up...WAY too early and went canoeing. It was at some river in Florida called something that i didn't pay attenton to. The canoes were cool but, of course, I was the first to fall in. The guy we rented the canoes from told us it was probably going to take around three hours to get three hours down the river but it felt much shorter to me. When we reached the end of the three miles the magority of us tried to tackle Joe but he just sprints way too fast. After like five seconds he was too far ahead to even try to catch him. Then after we all rinsed off and got on the bus we headed to Whataburger. Which, by the way, is delicious. So we all piled into the place and after eating attempted to tan in the road. But then Jenny had the genious idea to go to Wal-mart to kill time before we could go to the YMCA to take showers. But anyway we all had twenty minutess to go and kill time. Most of us made it back in time, but Joe of course got lost and was late...tehe! Then after we showered and did our show, which was awesome, we did our lesson. tonights word was generosity. When we were told to write down a generous person in our lifes, i wrote Mrs. Eckart, because if she can put up with us for so long and put in so much time and effort she is a very VERY giving person. The Lord be with us. The CUMC youth choir.

Milly's Blog

Hey everybody! This morning we left Brundidge, Alabama at 8:30 (or we were supposed to- we actually left at 9:00). We went to Hardee's for a delicious breakfast and then hit the road for Pensacola, Florida. The drive was about three hours long, which was nice for those of us who got only a few hours of sleep last night. We knew ahead of time that the church we were supposed to stay at got struck by lightning and the result of that was no AC...YIKES!! So that church graciously asked a neighboring church to let us stay here for a couple nights. So we got to the church and immediatly changed into our bathing suits and went to the beach. I will never forget watching Max, Alan, Joe, and all the other boys making a B-line straight into the water after throwing down thier stuff. The water was excellent and the waves were huge! Alan thought he saw a shark, but it was a dolphin...he scared me. :) Our lovely beach trip got cut short by a huge lightning storm that rolled in only a about 2 hours after we got there. So we had a lot of free time until dinner, so we went to the mall! After we shopped we went to Cici's and had dinner. Then we finally got to go take showers at the near by YMCA! Some of the older boys told Ben and Chandler that they were going to scrub them clean if they didn't. So after we were nice and clean we went back to the church and played some games and now we are going to bed to do some fun stuff tomorrow! Waiting on the Lord!

We arrived yesterday in Alabaster, Alabama. Did you know it was a different time zone, because we didn't! It is very hot down here. Once we got to the first church we had a Bible study. This year we are studying a different word each day. Last night, we talked about contentment. We ate dinner at Golden Corral and then drove back to the church to practice our songs that we were singing today for their church services. After we rehearsed, everyone was assigned a host home and stayed in a group of two or three people at that home. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves so far.
